If I have a misdemeanor larceny charge can I still get a job as a cna?

I made a mistake in high school which I obviously regret. Now my endeavor to become a nurse may be at risk???? I want to take my cna's and then pursue my dream of becoming a nurse, but others have told me that it is like pissing up a rope. I live in North Carolina does anybody know what the laws/guidelines may be?? please help I need to know my deadline for enrolling is coming up soon.
